Meet Joseph Vallo
Chief of Training – Jersey City Fire Department
Founder – On The Job Fire-Rescue
Battalion Chief Joseph Vallo is a veteran of the Jersey City Fire Department with over 30 years of service and a Licensed Level II Fire Instructor since 1995. A 9/11 responder and Special Operations Firefighter, he holds certifications in Technical Rescue, Hazmat Operations, and Maritime Emergency Response. He is also a U.S. Coast Guard–Licensed Master Captain, bringing specialized expertise to waterborne operations.

As Chief of Training, Chief Vallo oversees all training for the FDIC’s 700+ career firefighters and officers. He leads departmental, regional, and state-level training coordination, ensuring compliance with national standards. Through his company, On The Job Fire-Rescue, he provides custom instruction and consulting services tailored to the needs of fire departments and emergency responders.
